Psychological Evaluation

One of Colombia's requirements is that we have a psychological evaluation. During our first meeting with the psychologist, we took a test called the MMPI (Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory). It's basically a personality test consisting of about 575 true/ false questions. Some of the questions were a little strange. For example, "I sometimes hear voices in my head" or "I would like to be a librarian" or "I'm afraid of snakes." Hmm... I don't hear voices, I like books and hate snakes... what does this all mean? Then during our second visit the psychologist went over the results of the test and I have to admit they were pretty accurate.

Here we go again...

I wanted to start this blog as a way to document our 2nd adoption. Yes, that's right... we're doing it again! We're ready to add another member to our family... this time from the beautiful country of Colombia! We've technically been "in-process" for several months now but it seems like a lot longer to us because it's something we've been contemplating for quite some time. We are so excited to be starting this journey and cannot wait to travel to Colombia to meet our little one!

Right now, we are in the "paperchase" stage. We are gathering the documents otherwise known as "the dossier." Once we have all of our documents and immigration approval from USCIS, our dossier will be translated and submitted to Colombia. Then we will "officially" be waiting to be matched with a child. Colombia's process is a little different than Guatemala's in that we will travel shortly after getting our referral so all of the waiting comes before we are matched.
